Originally built in the 14th century by the Visconti family and later expanded by the Sforza dynasty, this impressive fortress has witnessed centuries of history. Conceived both as a military stronghold and a Renaissance court, the castle combines defensive structures with elegant architectural details.

As we walk through its magnificent courtyards, you’ll notice how the fortress was also designed to reflect the grandeur of the Sforza family. The Corte Ducale stands out with its refined arches and delicate decorations, while the Rocchetta Courtyard preserves the fortress’s defensive essence.Inside, the castle houses several museums and art collections, featuring works by masters like Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. One of the highlights is Michelangelo’s “Rondanini Pietà”, his final, unfinished masterpiece that reveals the artist’s deep spirituality. The castle also boasts beautifully frescoed rooms, including the Sala delle Asse, decorated by Leonardo da Vinci himself.

The Castello Sforzesco is more than just a fortress—it’s a journey through Milan’s history, art, and culture.
